During pregnancy the last thing you want to think about is fashion but unfortunately most of your old clothes don’t fit anymore and its time to hit the maternity shops. You will want to invest in maternity clothes that are comfortable but still make you feel, and look, gorgeous during your pregnancy. Maternity fashion is not necessarily about hiding the bulge – it’s about celebrating your womanhood and your unborn baby in a sophisticated, yet sexy, way.
Dresses
Long or short dresses look great on pregnant women. Empire line dresses cinch in just below the breasts – enhancing this area and sliming the bump. Go for a dress that has a shape to it as tent-like dresses aren’t flattering on any one. Caftans also look great on pregnant women and can be belted under the best or low on the hips. Strapless dresses look great on pregnant women as Jessica Alba demonstrated during her pregnancy.
The shape
The shape of clothing and your body should be considered when trying on maternity wear. Your breasts are growing rapidly and big breasts look best in scoop-neck or v-neck tops. Also don’t be afraid to buy clothing that emphasises your great breasts like jackets that fasten under the bust. You are bound to put on some weight during pregnancy and this often shows in the arms – cover arms with ¾ sleeves or go for sheer sleeves on hot days.
Colours and fabrics
Fabrics that are light and flowing look best on pregnant women and are the most comfortable but ensure that they still have a shape to them – celebrate your pregnant figure. Go for block colours and try to stay away from horizontal stripes and heavy patterns that will just make you look bigger. Dressing in one solid colour will make you look slimmer and taller.
Just do as you would with normal fashion – celebrate your shape and have fun with it!
