Accessories can make or break an outfit, but many women are scared to accessorise in case they overdo it. Accessorising can be the fun part of putting an outfit together, though. Read the following tips on how to accessorise and make shopping and styling fun. Accessories can also be great gifts and they come in a wide variety of styles and prices to suit any needs. Just remember: a woman can never have too many necklaces, handbags or heels!
The handbag
Your handbag goes everywhere with you and has to match a variety of outfits. Unless you love changing handbags everyday it is wise to invest in a classic, good-quality piece that you love. Go for a handbag in tan, black or white as you don’t want to be clashing with your outfits. Buy one in real leather as this will ensure quality, however be wary of suede and nubuck as these mark easily. If you are unsure whether a handbag is real leather, then try sniffing it – it should smell earthy. Alternatively, simply ask a shop assistant. Just like a pair of shoes, you should polish your handbag often to keep it looking new.
Stilettos
A great pair of heels can instantly glam-up any outfit. Wear them with shorts or leggings and go for a gladiator style-look. Invest in a comfortable pair that you don’t mind standing in for the whole evening – something more robust like an ankle boot will support your foot better. Don’t be afraid of colour when it comes to your heels, particularly if your dress or outfit is plain and neutral.
Jewellery
The right jewellery can make or break any outfit. Focus on one area if you are going for chunky jewellery, so if your bracelet is big then wear studs in your ears. Also don’t be afraid of colour. Investing in quality jewellery is wise as it won’t discolour and break easily.
A final touch
Final touches like bright nails and a pretty up-do style with your hair can add that something extra to the perfect outfit. The key to accessorising is to have fun with it, and don’t be afraid of bold prints and colour!
