Sunglasses can be an expensive but useful accessory and are a vital part of any wardrobe. Make sure that you pick the perfect glasses to suit your face shape, personality and lifestyle. Typical faces are either oval, heart-shaped, angular or round. Sunglasses come in similar shapes and a wide variety of colours; find out what style of glasses suits your face shape and what colour lenses suit your view of the world.
Oval face
An oval or long face suits almost any design of sunglasses, while oversized glasses look best. Oversized glasses are extremely fashionable and create an air of drama. Oval faces should always go for glasses that are the same width as the widest part of their face or even wider.
Heart-shaped face
In a heart-shaped face the forehead is the largest part of the face with a relatively small or pointy chin. Choosing a frame with detail in the bottom of the frame or with only a frame under the lenses will help to balance out your face shape. Avoid heavy frames with embellishment or strong lines on the top of the frames as these will only make your forehead look bigger.
Rectangular faces
A person with a rectangular face shape should go for frames that soften their features. Try round or curvy glasses or even glasses in the shapes of hearts or butterflies.
A round face
A round face is exactly the opposite of a rectangular face and so people with this face shape should buy square or angular glasses. Geometric deigns will also add interested to your face and whatever you do, don’t buy round glasses.
Other things to remember
There are some other tips you need to remember when picking out the perfect pair of sunglasses. Metal frames work best for business functions and formal meetings while bright coloured plastics can liven up the even the simplest of casual outfits. Frames made of jewels, ivory or wood look expensive and sophisticated.
Choose a colour that complements your hair and avoid clashing colours. Picking the right lens can also be important. Rose lenses look good, browns define objects and grey lenses give a cool, gentle colour. A polarised lens reduces glare and bright lights and it is wise to spend that little extra on a pair of glasses with polarised lenses.
