With the second installment of the Sex and the City movies due for release very soon, it’s clear that Sarah Jessica Parker and her co-stars will soon be setting trends and inspiring women around the world quicker than you can say ‘Manolo Blahnik‘. In keeping with trends, the style is a feminine one, but it stays confident and strong – and, of course, it’s very New York. Want to know how to get the look? Read on.
Get Carried away
The movie’s tagline says it all – you really can get Carried away with styling inspired by Sex and the City 2. Not only are the looks seen in the movie dramatic and over-the-top in the nicest possible way, but there are also four to choose from – demure, feminine Charlotte’s style, Carrie’s creative and fashionable dress sense, Miranda’s tailored look, and Samantha’s revealing and glamorous choices. The best part is that you don’t have to pick just one.

The Sex and the City 2 look keeps its colours bold and its accessories dazzling, but there’s a twist on what we’ve seen before from these girls. In this movie, the girls take a trip to Morocco, so some Eastern and African inspiration can be expected to make an appearance, as was seen when Carrie wore a turban in the movie’s official trailer. It’s already a look that’s much loved by bloggers and fashion critics alike.
‘Ethereal’
Sarah Jessica Parker’s look on the Sex and the City 2 movie poster has been described as ‘ethereal’ – she’s all in white and her accessories are a glowing gold. To get the look, go for flowing clothing that shows off your best curves, and keep accessories bold and structured to look feminine rather than frumpy. For the same reason, don’t wear white unless you’re confident that you can keep it free from stains and in its original, glowing state. To keep things practical, go for the same styles in more manageable colours.
Make it up

The image of SJP that’s featured on the movie poster has been criticised for looking unnatural. If you want to avoid looking like you’ve been photoshopped, too, keep make-up and cosmetics as natural as possible. Whether you’re blonde like Samantha and Carrie, a brunette like Charlotte, or a redhead like Miranda, keep your hair well-maintained and glossy with the help of deep conditioners and good quality hair products – nothing ruins a glamorous look faster than neglected hair.
Sex – and it’s pretty
If there’s one simple rule for how to get the look of Sex and the City, it would have to be to wear what you love. The four stars have shown that pretty can be sexy, dressed-down can be glamourous, and that fabulous doesn’t necessarily have to be what’s fashionable. Choose what you love, add your own personal touches, and wear the look with confidence.
