The little beauty problems we all face at one time or another always seem to require expensive, shop-bought beauty remedies, but there is an alternative: you can create natural beauty remedies in your own home, and you might just find that they work more gently and more effectively. Hands and feet are used a lot during the day, so it’s no surprise that they’re often left feeling tired and rough. Something to try at home for your feet is a relaxing soak with Epsom salts – just place a few tablespoons of the salts in some warm water and soak your feet in them to give them a really clean, refreshed feeling, and to get them ready for exfoliation with a pumice stone.

Hands, of course, will need more gentle exfoliation, but there are great natural beauty remedies for this, too. One of the easiest recipes that you can try at home is a simple combination of cold-pressed olive oil and brown sugar. Just add the sugar to the olive oil until it has a thick, paste-like consistency, then rub it on your hands to remove the dead skin that so often leaves them looking uncared for. You can also add to the scrub any essential oils that make you feel relaxed and refreshed, and when you’re done, just rinse it all off.

The skin on your face and the skin on your body will need different kinds of attention, and different natural beauty remedies, because the skin on your face is so delicate. A scrub like the one above can be used on your face – it’s especially good for dry skin because it removes dead skin cells while moisturising – but you’ll need to apply it more gently than you would to other parts of your body, and avoid the eye area.
Remember that the skin on your face is also more complex: if your skin problem is the fact that your face is prone to greasiness, an oily treatment wouldn’t help you. Don’t be tempted to use harsh products to dry out your skin, as this will just cause it to create more oil in the long run. Instead, use gentle natural home remedies such as cucumber juice on the oily areas, reducing oil but also rejuvenating skin damaged by the sun. Mixing the cucumber juice with some lemon juice is thought to have positive effects.

Natural beauty remedies that work on the outside of your body are very helpful and will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed, but it’s important to also work on your body’s appearance by making careful choices about what you eat. Make sure you’re getting plenty of good oils in your diet through eating plenty of oily fish, nuts, and eggs, and drink lots of water and fresh fruit juice – this might be the most helpful idea to try at home if you want to get yourself looking naturally beautiful.
