The best way to get flawless skin, besides using good beauty products , is to eat a healthy diet. U.S. dietitians have come up with a list of foods that promise to give you a glowing complexion.

Salmon is the number one food for flawless skin. The Perricone Diet, devised by U.S. Dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, first put salmon in the headlines as a miracle food for skin. Salmon is one of the richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, essential fats that nourish the skin by combating inflammation. Salmon is the number one tool in the fight against wrinkles, and also reduces clogged pores.

Sweet potatoes are packed with betacarotene, which helps protect against sun damage – the leading cause of premature ageing. Red, yellow and orange fruit are all full of betacarotene, so for flawless skin, load up on brightly coloured fresh fruit and veg.

Kiwi for vitamin C

Kiwi fruit has more vitamin C per ounce than almost any other fruit. Vitamin C is vital for protecting your collagen – the material that keeps the skin young and supple. Vitamin C is very sensitive to heat and light, though, so be sure to get your dose of kiwi as soon as possible after peeling and cutting.

Sunflower power

Sunflower seeds are full of the powerful antioxidant Vitamin E, which slows down the ageing process, keeping you looking younger for longer. Vitamin E is also well known for its ability to minimise scarring. So, snack on seeds.

Turkey

Turkey has a high content of zinc, a mineral that keeps collagen and elastin fibres healthy, just as Vitamin C does. The healthiest way to eat your turkey is roasted or smoked. So pack a lunch with turkey instead of ham or pastrami, and you’ll be on your way to flawless skin.

The secret to great skin is on your plate. As long as you eat a diet full of fresh fruit and vegetables, you’re sure to get the antioxidants you need. Also, eat salmon or another fatty fish  a few times a week, and you’ll notice dramatic improvements in your skin’s texture and elasticity.
