Summer is slowly slipping away and the world is turning some gorgeous shades of yellow, orange and red, but what colours are hot to wear this season? A new season brings with it a whole bunch of new fashion trends so it’s time to get down to the stores, find some bargain summer sales and grab some hot-off-the-shelves items for autumn! Take a look at what designers are calling hot and not for fashion this autumn.
Your look
Your make-up and hair is just as important as what you decide to wear this autumn. A masculine feel with slick side partings and tight buns is all the rage, while a simple ponytail can go from day to night. Bronze and gold eye shadows mimic the colours of autumn. Lips are also a focus and matte lipsticks in bold red colours highlight the pout.
Masculine trends
The male form is definitely showing its face in women’s clothing this season with tuxedos and brogues being must-haves on your shopping list. Pleats, neutral colours and starchy fabrics have been seen on international runways. The feminine floral and lace looks and pretty ballet pumps of summer have definitely taken a back seat as winter approaches with a harsher, more gothic edge.
Other hits
Too much of one trend can definitely make you look overdone and ridiculous. Try pairing your masculine looks with some of autumn’s other favourites to lighten the look. Polka-dots, knee-length skirts, faux-fur and chunky wooden heels all help to soften the look while still maintaining the mysterious, androgynous look that autumn 2011 is all about. So adorn your neutral shades, find your inner goddess and adorn her in some men’s wear if you want to be right on trend this autumn.
