You can Easily Save on your Energy Bills

We all know energy saved is energy produced; and we can successfully achieve this without compromising on our lifestyle or comfort. There are a number of things we can do in our house to save on energy, which require little to no time at all.

You can cut on your electricity bills to a great extent by setting your thermostat to a considerably lower temperature, when you are either out of the house, or sleeping during winters, and slightly higher in summers. By doing this you will not only save on the bills but also achieve an efficient indoor temperature. Fix any kind of dripping hot water faucet as this can easily cost you around £20.

By installing good water saving showerheads, instead of the regular showerhead, you will easily save around £15 to £30 on your bills per year, depending on the type of water heater you have, as it could either be gas or electric heater. Always ensure that the door gaskets of your refrigerator are not worn out and that they seal tightly. Of course, you should also make sure your main appliances are themselves as energy efficient as possible, like the Hotpoint FF4DX with its Energy Class A rating. Also the thermostat should be set between 38 to 40 in the refrigerator section and around 5 degrees Fahrenheit in the freezer.

Keep the burners in the kitchen clean and lower the flame when cooking in covered pots. Do not be very inquisitive and quick to check on the food again and again, since every time you open the cover, you lose 25% of the heat. You can easily save on half of the energy used by the dish washers simply by not running the drying cycle. Let the dishes be air dried. During winters you should open your window shades as this will give some solar heating to your rooms.
