Cherishing Memories! Tips on preserving old photographs
They say that a moment lasts for a second but a memory lives on and what better way to cherish these memories than those innumerable photographs in which you captured the special moments of your life. As we move on in life, our memories start fading - we remember we went to college but we forget the funny dress that we wore on our first day at school. We remember we have kids but we can not recall their mischievous smiles when they were 1, we hardly remember the naughty tricks that we played on our siblings and friends when we had ourselves just learned to start walking without grabbing our parents’ finger. For all these special moments, we have photographs. Looking at them immediately takes us back to those moments.
It is true that one can’t change the past but you can surely preserve it. It is necessary to save all those special photographs carefully because just like time washes away memories from the canvas of our brain, the chemicals from your photographs also start fading away. You would surely not want to lose those precious moments because of laziness or negligence. Here are a few tips to help you preserve those priceless moments.
-
Get the photographs out of those tacky albums because the cellophane of those albums tends to stick to the photographs, so take out some really special photographs and make them into a collage, get it framed and put it in your living room. Its an excellent way to live those memories every now and then.
-
Make a scrapbook out of the photographs and write whacky comments under each photograph.
-
While pasting photographs use glue instead of tape, it spoils the picture.
-
Always store them in cool, dry and dust free place.
-
You can also scan your precious moments and save a digital copy to keep as a back up or make a movie out of them.
-
Always store your pictures and negatives separately to avoid them sticking together and getting damaged.
