To get set for Halloween 2009, one must carve out some beautiful patterns on pumpkins. A good idea is to hold a pumpkin-carving competition at your Halloween party to choose the best pumpkin carving designs. To carve out patterns on pumpkins, you would need the – a Scraper like Ice cream scoop, large spoon, or special pumpkin scraper scoop tool for cleaning out the pumpkin, Pumpkin Poker that helps transfers the patterns onto the pumpkin and a push pin that can penetrate deeply enough into the pumpkin shell. An assortment of hand saws like a large saw for cutting the lid, a medium saw for cutting large sections of the pumpkin and a small saw that will help cut smaller sections of the pumpkin. Then a Drill Bit and small power tools are also required for carving pumpkins.
To begin carving the pumpkin carving patterns, first clean the outside of the pumpkin with a rag to remove dirt and debris. Then cut a six-sided lid, big enough so you can reach in and clean out the entire pumpkin gunk. The bottom of the pumpkin could also be cut off instead as this will allow the pumpkin to sit up straight. Using the flat-edged ice cream scoop, clean out the seeds and strings. Choose the pattern you want to carve and print it pin it to your pumpkin. The pattern can be slightly folded to fit on a rounded pumpkin. Using a pushpin, or a poker tool, make pinpoint marks 1/16″ to 1/8″ apart along the design lines. When the carving pattern has been transferred, use the knives, carving saws and saw gently. Your carved pumpkin for Halloween 2009 is ready. To be able to carve out neat and precise patterns on pumpkins, one must have the right tools and some tools are Wusthof Classic Cook’s knife, Wusthof Knife block, Global Ship shape Knife Block, Global Z-Line Knife Set with 5 Knives, WMF Profi Plus Fruit carving knife, WMF Vegetable Knife Profi Plus, WMF Utility Knife Grand Gourmet, WMF 1288616040, WMF 1288276040, Wusthof 4602 and Wusthof 4582.

Thanks for the tips on pumpkin carving. My kids really enjoy doing it. We were actually today looking on the internet for some pumpkin carving patterns. I told them it was a bit early to start carving pumpkins, but they just wanted to get ideas.
Thanks
Jim
