Beauticians charge silly amounts of money for having a skill most people do not – making you look, well, beautiful. However, many of the skills top beauticians have are easy to replicate in your own home if you know how to tackle the problem. This short guide on how to tweeze your eyebrows and make the perfect eyebrows from home is an example of another area where you can save money on beauty care.

What you need

Before you begin plucking eyebrows, make sure you have the right equipment. At the very least, you’ll need tweezers, and a face cloth. But it is advised you add an eyebrow brush, some cotton wool, an orange stick and moisturiser to your tool kit. You’ll obviously need a mirror, too, to watch your perfect eyebrows masterwork take shape.

Step 1: Prepare your brows

Before plucking away, you need to make sure your eyebrows are ready. The way to do this is to dip your face cloth in warm water, and then holding the damp face cloth over your eyebrows for about 20 seconds. This helps to open the pores for easy removal of brows.

Now you want to brush your brows to take the general shape you want them to have. This will make plucking eyebrows notably simpler once you get started, since brows tend to have a consistent shape on both sides.

Step 2: Create the inner and outer corners of your eyebrows

If you bought the orange stick, press it along the inside of your nose right to the brow. This will reveal your brow corner, so you need to remove any hair that is on the wrong side of the stick.

Even if you don’t have an orange stick, just using your sense of spacing can give you an idea of where your brows corner should form.

Repeat this step for your outer brow, using your cheekbone as reference.

Step 3: Tweeze those babies

Now its time to pluck eyebrows! The trick is to plan the look of your perfect eyebrows beforehand – how thin you want them to be and how high an arch you want them to have. Now you may begin plucking your eyebrows. Sit as close to the mirror as you need to get a clear look at what you are doing, remembering going from one side to the other is better for getting that shape you want.
Frequently check that you’re getting the shape you want, because nothing is more annoying then over tweezing.

Step 4: Cleanup

Once done, wipe your brows with cotton wool and then moisturise. Never wipe with your fingers, for risk of getting bacteria in your newly minted and exposed eyebrows. And remember to leave the makeup off all day ideally, but if that is not possible, at least for an hour to give your freshly open pores time to breathe.

And that there is your painless guide to plucking eyebrows and getting the perfect eyebrows from home. Its budget conscious and fun once you get the hang of it.
