Kitchen sinks today are crafted to add to the style and functionality of any kitchen. Modern kitchen sinks are available in a variety of designs, materials and sizes to accommodate and complement kitchens of every home.
Traditionally, sinks were relegated to an inconspicuous corner of the kitchen and were not even given any special consideration. Today however, kitchen sinks have emerged to be a focal point where all major cooking activities take place. Designers and decorators strive to create beautiful looking sinks which add to the style as well as functionality.
There are quite a few trends emerging in the kitchen sinks segment. While traditional sink basins used to be placed slightly below the kitchen counter top in level, the modern vessel sinks sit on top of the counters. Being prominently visible, they are constantly improved on in design and function. They also come in a variety of materials including copper. Cost of the sinks usually depends on the material you choose.
The Apron sink or the Farmhouse sink are extra deep and rectangular in shape. These are found mostly in rural and vintage homes. You can choose to either mount them or just make them sit on the counter top. Nothing can beat the comfort and functionality of this type of sink, which provides an old world appeal to the kitchen.
The Entertainment or Prep sinks are smaller sinks which offer extra working space and work flow in the kitchen. These sinks are compact and complement the main sink effectively.
The Trough sinks are leaner and longer making it easy for more than one person to work simultaneously. Sometimes countertops and sinks are merged together to provide for easy cleaning, like with the Franke Mythos MTG 611 inset sink. These sinks are called the Seamless sink. Choose from a range of interesting sink designs and types depending on your kitchen décor, size and requirements.
