Spring Cleaning for your Laptop

Whenever its spring time and the calendar flips to April, the first thought that comes to mind is cleaning the house or the backyard. We consider cleaning every bit in the house but forget about one of the most important things, such as our laptop that we use on a daily basis. Just like other electronic equipment, your computer needs good cleaning in order to operate efficiently.

Whenever you decide to clean your laptop, the most important thing to consider is to read the instruction manual carefully. Prevent measures are also important, and keeping the laptop inside a protective case, such as the reliable Belkin Stone Street Laptop Case, help stop dust or dirt from collecting inside the device. For a general cleaning, clean the outside opening of the laptop first. Any kind of openings, cooling vents or ports get clogged with the dust. For a thorough cleaning of these gaps, a can of compressed air would be the best solution. If you have any doubts about this type of air, you should not forget referring to the instruction manual. You also have the option of using vacuum cleaners specially designed for cleaning the laptops.

Before starting to clean the vents or ports, or any other openings in your laptop, always clean off all the large pieces of dirt or dust using a clean, cotton swab. Then get on to vacuuming or cleaning with the help of a compressed air can. When using the compressed air to clean the cooling vent, gently hold the fan using a toothpick. Turn off the laptop before cleaning the display and use a non-abrasive cloth, such as a cotton t-shirt for cleaning it. Do not use any ammonia based cleaners. You have the option of either using the monitor cleaning solution, which should not be sprayed directly on the screen, or a moistened wipe.

Take time to do a thorough cleaning of your laptop as the rushed jobs can always lead to problems.
