Doors are truly, and obviously, an essential element to your house. They help you engaging with the outside world; a front door that gives a warm welcome to all your friends and relatives; a beautiful view of your backyard garden. Time, moisture, frequent use, heat and many other elements are responsible for a lot of common problems with doors, such as improper closing, sagging and wrapping. Therefore, it’s quite important to spend some time on improving the beauty and functionality of your doors.
It is always better to fix the problem at the initial stage before it takes a bigger shape. The bottom line is that the door should be repaired or improved upon immediately, unless of course, it is badly wrapped up. With the proper tools, such as electronic screwdrivers and nailers, like the Dewalt 618KB, you can easily install a new door on your own, should it be necessary to order a replacement for unsalvagable door. Always clean your doors and remove mould or fungus. After a thorough cleaning simply apply a coat of wood oil with or without colour. You can also apply multiple coats if necessary, as the oil helps in getting back the wood colour.
Never leave the wood in a raw form, it should always be finished to protect against any kind of damages. There are two ways to finish a raw wood; first is by applying raw oil which penetrates deep within and helps in toughening of the wood. Secondly, you can apply a shell-like paint or a varnish for protecting the top coat. Both these methods are equally good and help in protecting your door from getting damaged.
All the doors should be examined annually to check for any signs of deterioration or damage. Dings or scratches should be properly cleaned with a cotton swab. Doors have typically been designed to last for years. Proper maintenance and care should be taken as these home fixtures act as a protective barrier between you and the crazy outside world.
