Light up your Room with Emotion

Lighting up a room is generally saved until last. It’s the furnishing, furniture and the colours that we focus on. We do not realize that light can change the entire outlook of a room. It can soften harsh corners or light up and change focal points. Every time you think of putting lights in your room, you must first decide WHY exactly you are putting them up.

Is it because you want to use it for reading? Do you wish to highlight a particular corner or an object of the room? Is it for decoration? Which room do you want it for?

All these factors play an important role in deciding what kind of lights you want in your home. When we talk of good lighting we mean light that is appropriate to the room, occasion and the use for which we need it. For example, night lights like the Disney Princess GO Glow Light, are perfect for a kid’s room, but will look out of place anywhere else. There are some points one should keep in mind while deciding the right kind of lighting:

• If you want to highlight a particular corner or object ensure that it does not leave the rest of the room in the dark or shadow. The spotlight should not have a blinding glare, which makes it uncomfortable.

• Make sure the lights blend in with the rest of the decor. The color of the light and intensity should enhance the ambience of the room.

• The lights should not be too dim. Do keep in mind the activity, which you have planned for the room. If you plan to work or watch TV the lights have to be appropriately bright or regulated.

• Make sure the lights do not dominate the room unless it is a room, which needs light all the time. A room that is dependent on lights for beauty can look ugly when the lights are not on. A room has to be balanced.

• Keep the effect of sunlight in the room. Always have more than one light so that you have the option to choose the look you want. It can match with your moods.

Lighten up more than the room with the right kind of lights!
