Creative decorating with photos

Displaying photos lets you decorate your home with what you love most – your friends and family. If you’re great at taking pictures, that’s even more reason to show off your pictures, and having photos around the house reminds everyone of good times and interesting places. But does decorating with photos always have to involve a row of picture frames on the sideboard or next to the stairs? With interesting new ideas, it definitely doesn’t.

Mix and match

Create a photo wall with vintage picture frames that you’ve mixed up and arranged to form a display on a large space. This allows you to display large and small pictures together without them looking as if they’re out of place – ideal for hanging older pictures which can’t simply be printed in whatever size you need them. If an entirely mismatched wall of photos is too much for you, try frames in the same colour and style, but different sizes.

Layer it down

If you have a fireplace that would look great with some pictures on it, then keep it interesting by layering picture frames. Go for different shapes and sizes and allow the edges of the frames to overlap to create depth and highlight the different textures of the frames.

If you’d like to display photos along with other interesting items, try a photo wire wall. Install two screw eyes or hooks on your wall and join them with wire cable, then hang pictures from them. This option is perfect for a child’s room – it allows pictures to be clipped up alongside art projects and keepsakes.

Keep it interesting

While you’ll probably have some photo displays in your home that stay forever, it’s nice to change others occasionally – allow your photo displays to reflect what’s going on in your life now as well as happy memories.

  1. Great ideas for incorporating personal pictures into a room. Its always nice to keep things more interesting than just a few pictures lined up on a wall.
