If you lack storage or fridge space or your vegetable and herb garden is becoming overgrown, consider bringing your food out onto your countertops. Food is no longer just for the kitchen, now well placed fruits and vegetables can serve as stunning decorations in any room in your home. Food decor adds a modern look and feel to your home but be careful about what you choose to use as decorations as you don’t want your décor moulding, wilting or stinking up your house!
Fresh flowers with a difference
If you love artichokes you will love decorating with them! Artichokes can replace flowers and they last a lot longer. Gather a bunch of artichokes in a vase for a centrepiece with a difference or hollow out an old squash or pumpkin and put your flowers in that.
Herbs
Your herbs don’t just have to stay in their pots in the garden – bring them inside and display them in rows on windowsills in bathrooms, kitchens or dining rooms. Your little herbs will also help to save money and there is nothing better than fresh herbs in a good meal. Herbs like mint and lavender are great for bathrooms as they help to freshen them up. Keep your herbs looking clean and trim by using them often!
Fruits
Citrus fruits like oranges and lemons are most commonly used for decor and for a good reason. These bright fruits can be placed in clear vases, left to float in water filled bowls or simply placed in bunches to brighten up rooms. Take your lemons and limes out of the kitchen fruit bowl and put them into a basket on a side table for a fun twist on this look. Apples, cherries and grapes also make great decorations but are not as hardy as citrus fruits so will need to be replaced often.
