Watering your Plants: better rarely and thoroughly, than frequently and superficially
A few fundamental rules should be obeyed when watering the plants in your garden, in order to conserve water and avoid damaging the plants. The most important rule says: it’s better to water plants rarely, but on these occasions to water thoroughly so that the water penetrates most locations, than to water frequently and only water the immediate surface. Because if only the surface is sufficiently watered, then the plants do not grow any deep roots, with which they can extract water from deeper below in the soil during dry periods. (more…)
